Watch: Contractor kicks Andhra engineer in public, because govt didn’t pay up dues

In a shocking incident, a government engineer was assaulted in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur town in public on Monday evening. The incident came to light after the video of the assault began circulating on social media. In the video, Narasimha Reddy, a local contractor who takes up road and drainage work in the Anantapur Municipality is seen kicking and yelling at U Kristappa, a Deputy Executive Engineer. Even after Kristappa fell down after being kicked once, Narasimha continues to kick him and yell at him to get up. That angered him and he attacked me," Kristappa told TNM."On Monday evening, we got a call from an eyewitness saying there was a brawl happening in an area in town," said Anantapur town DySP Venkat Rao. After reaching the spot, the police took Kristappa to the local hospital for first aid. According to the police, Narasimha is a contractor who takes up roads and drainage work in Anantapur Municipality. The Assistant Executive Engineer, who Kristappa works under, takes care of the disbursal of bills."Narsimha Reddy claimed that there are bills pending and harassed the officials by not clearing them in time," DySP Venkat added."However, we found that out of the bill for Rs 28 lakhs, Rs 24 lakhs was cleared last week. He resorted to attacking the officer for the remaining Rs 4 lakhs," he said. Based on the complaint given by Kristappa, a case has been registered against Narasimha under relevant sections of the IPC.
